Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

A snowHead
Hi, I'm off to french alps on Saturday for a quick four days and I'm totally torn between which skis to take! Options are my everyday
armada
twins or my fat
k2
ObSETHed Freeride. Snow conditions make me want to take the powder skis but with recent events and unstable conditions I'm leaning towards armadas and sticking to the pistes.
Taking both is unfortunately not an option. Anyone on the ground in L2A recommend what conditions are actually like?
Cheers

ObSEtHeds are 105mm underfoot right? Perfectly fine for soft pistes.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Take one of each and favour the relevant leg depending on conditions you find!

I've been skiing 122mm Rockr2's for almost 2 weeks now. Id go with the
K2
's unless they have zero camber as 105 will be fine.
You could always take the Armadas and then rent some bigger skis in the event you're going off piste. Especially if you don't know the area being with a guide is probably best idea so you can plan ahead.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@haigie
, Interesting your comment on camber. I've been using
Volkl
BMT 122s on piste when conditions were softer, and they have full length rocker, without any trouble. Near 40m sidecut radius too! V sensitive to fore aft balance but once dialed in an absolute hoot. Supposed to be 90% off piste but the 10% is a hundred times better than my old Rossi S80s.
