It appears that a car driver, allegedly drunk, drove at high speed into a group of young folk going home after a night out. Not clear whether they were waiting to board a coach or already on it. Lots of others injured. It happened in Luttach which is not far from Kronplatz but doubt many if any readers here would be nearby as it is a pretty small ski resort.

@Mike Pow, to be fair to stanton the reports in German do talk about a group of young people and students. Not completely unreasonable to use the word "kids" especially as the initial reports were understandably vague about the details.

They were crossing the road after getting off the bus. Were all staying at the same Hotel. The car hit 17 people, six killed outright, several seriously injured & flown to Innsbruck. Driver was injured but survived. Was seriously over the limit.
Words fail me.

So many young lives taken by one idiot, totally unfair. Not children but young twenty something adults who all deserved better than this. My thoughts go out to the many families who have been devastated by this drunken idiot. Hope the seriously injured make a full recovery.

Any avoidable death is a tragedy but as an older person 75+ I do regard it as a greater tragedy when it happens to young people with most of their lives before them.
