Hestra and Leki gloves seem to be very long in the fingers but narrow in the hands. Very difficult to get on a off in a size 8 Hestra but then the right length in the fingers. 9 is much too long in t fingers but easy to get on and off like it should be. So I thought I was a hestra 8 after having their fall line gloves and also trying on some hestra Heli gloves.
Bought some size 8 Hestra army Gotetex and they are huge in the fingers. I'm starting to think Hestra labelled then wrong as the seem more like a 9 usually does. Did anyone else downsize their globe size when buying the gotetex version?
Looking at black diamond I should be an XS (even though that sounds a little ridiculous) for the perfect fit but from what I've read you need to size up in this brand.
I've not tried any Black Diamond, Mammut or Arctyrx Fission SV. Any thoughts on how different brands fit?

Try the Level (Hand) brand. They seem to have wider gloves with shorter fingers, also they have 8.5 in some designs.

Tried any 'ladies' gloves? Usually come up a bit shorter in the fingers (though sometimes too short at thumb base ime).
Got a few Decathlon gloves which fit pretty well (unisex ones), including some decent leather ones in black or yellow.

Don't know where you read that but quite the opposite in my experience. I've got two pairs of Black Diamond leather gloves and both of them are a medium when I am a large in every other brand.
I have the same issue as you with Hestra and many other brands - the wrist opening on an under the cuff glove is too tight if the rest of the glove is good. I would be an 8.5 in Hestra if they made half sizes. North Face size large literally impossible to get on. Tried some Oakley leather gloves recently that were well cut, Dakine has also worked for me in the past. With Black Diamond, there is some considerable variation between pairs of the same glove in the same size - you really need to be able to try them on in a shop. If I was ordering online, I think I would order 2 or 3 pairs, select one and return the others.

@Powder Pete, I’ve got ‘standard’ hands and different types of gloves from Black Diamond, Hester, Outdoor Research, Arc’teryx, Snowlife, all fit me perfectly, so might be brands to avoid.
As others have mentioned, get yourself to a big shop, or somewhere like Covent Garden in London where there are the 4 big UK shops, and try every pair on, or wait until you get to the resort and do the same. Also as mentioned, mis-labelling does occur as the majority of gloves are made in Asia despite the European or American branding.

I'm in Saalbach Austria at the moment and it seems like the only decent brands stocked are Hestra and Leki with the odd Dakine thrown in - other brands don't seem to get a look in.
Sounds like you just mentioned pretty much every reputable ski glove brand there that I was considering. I might be out of luck.

@Powder Pete, I sympathise, I am medium fit for most things but gloves a problem: I have wide palms which means even large size gloves can feel tight but there is a flappy bit at the end of each finger. With ski gloves the seams start splitting after a few weeks use, perhaps because of the stretch involved when carrying skis.

I would say that the Deltaplus "pisteur" gloves have quite short fingers.

similar problem & I find level fit me the best. Got my last pair of Level Surburban (XXL) from TK Maxx for £20

@Powder Pete, I had to return a pair of Mountain Equipment Randonee gloves because the fingers were way too short. Hestra size 8 fits me perfectly so perhaps the ME (in a suitable size) would be good for you?

I finally found a pair of Hestra Heli size 7 gloves to try on. Strangely they fit just like the size 8 in the hestra fall line but are easier to get on. Why Hestra has confused the sizing is beyond me. What size were your Randonee gloves? Which hestra 8's do you have?
Not a fan of lobster / mitts really.
Does anyone rate Hestra gloves with CZone waterproof membrane - as good as their gore-tex? Looking at the Couloir and the Army leather Soft shell Short. I don't really want white leather on a glove if I can help it. I've seen too many dirty old hestras this season. Tan leather might not hold up that much better though on the Couloir?

@Powder Pete, IIRC I tried the ME Randonees in small and medium (according to the size guide I should be in small) and neither was the right shape/size.
I've currently got Hestra Army Leather Patrol gloves. I'm pretty sure the helis (normal and gtx versions) also fit nicely in an 8. I've not noticed a difference in sizing between the gtx and non-gtx versions. I've had one pair of Hestra's less expensive gloves (one of the czone ones) and wasn't impressed. They weren't leather and the fingers fell apart in a few weeks. The waterproofing wasn't great either.

@Powder Pete, try some Black Diamond Spark or Spark Pros in a small or medium. It's what I bought instead of Hestra shorts.

Ok so I didn't get the chance to try and Black Diamond. I'll have to them in the UK if I get the chance. Hestra do short gloves? Anyway I found some nice gloves by luck / perseverance - Zanier speed pro. Full leather - much like a hestra fall line but much better fit. The glove goes on and off a bit easier, the thumb can actually move freely and nearly all of the fingers are the right length - just the pinky is a bit big but doesn't bother me. Nice snug fit. Not too warm not too cold.
