Poster: A snowHead
|
I'm off with a mate on the 10th for a week, stopping in Ski Totals chalet hotel Montfort and whilst I've skied in Lech for a day when I went to St Anton 10 years ago, can anyone help me with info on the best runs, apres bars and mountain restaurants or point me in the direction of a previous thread.
Tah

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

The best mountain restaurants are the Goldener Berg and Montana Hotels in Oberlech. The Montana is the hotel with the Olympic rings on it (it is owned by Patrick Ortlieb who won the Gold Medal in the Men's Downhill in 1992 in Val d'isere).
There's a bar built of ice just above Oberlech, I think it is marked on the piste map.
You can sit and drink in one of the outside bars on the high street in the afternoon and watch the numerous fur coats wandering by.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Goldener Berg and Montana.....that's a rather generic choice of restaurants, and the Icebar is not in Oberlech but at the Schlegelkopf chair bergstation.
Much better eating and atmosphere: Murmeli, Cresta, Formarin.
Apres-ski in Lech: very sedate.
Best runs: all runs!

@stevew, The White Ring circuit is a good day out (if conditions allow, which they may well not do)
The slopes above Zurs are lovely and quiet although slightly samey in a red-run kinda way.
Some great easy off-piste itineraries off the Hochlight down to Zug.
Nice resort - I'm off there in 53 weeks time

We stayed in the Montfort a couple of years ago and everything about the holiday was good. Not far from the chalet is a lift outside the Berghof Hotel which takes you down to street level. Red 10 above Zurs is a favourite run together with the run off the top of the Rufikopf Cablecar which takes you down to Zurs from Lech.

@Janska, good to know, tah.
@nozawaonsen, I think as a pair of middle age blokes we'll be steering clear of night clubs
