Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

As a slight antidote for all the doom & gloom regarding snow conditions in ADH at the moment here's a quick TR of this morning's fun.

We took first lift out of Oz & proceeded up to Dome des Rousses 2800m then skied the road which is currently the piste down to the weather station below. It was a little chilly as we put on the skins and headed up towards the base of the Pyramide with the sun just starting to rise above Pic Blanc up to our right where we caught an occasional glimpse of the lift taking skiers up towards the Sarenne.

Snow conditions were variable to say the least, wind blown crust, boiler plate ice and the odd patch of soft stuff, memorised for a few decent turns on the way down. The terrain up there is pretty simple and with an avalanche risk of 1 it was just great to enjoy being away from the queues and rocky pistes for a while.

Having climbed around 220 metres of vertical and reached the end of the climb looking over towards the Etendard and further to Mont Blanc there was no option but to turn round and the obligatory mini tornado blew in as we stowed our skins and retraced our tracks down through some fun little corridors before all too quickly arriving back on the road which meanders down to the top station of the DMC & 'civilisation'. A fun little reminder of things to come later this winter once the snow finally arrives...fingers crossed
