Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snow Conditions in The Tyrol - Where Would You Go Next Week?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Mrs B & I are heading to the Tyrol next week, starting with the overnight ferry from North Shields to Ijmuiden on Sunday. We plan to arrive somewhere (nothing booked yet, other than the ferry...) in Austria to ski on Tuesday afternoon, then ski for 3 weeks. We've bought season passes for the Tyrol, so intend to be flexible and "go with the snow." Hopefully we will see some storm activity before the end of January....

In the meantime it looks like the west of the Tyrol (Ischgl in particular) has the best conditions, with Obergurgl looking ok as well.

Are there any snowHeads out there at the moment who can comment on conditions? Unless things change dramatically in a week, or unless anyone advises differently, I think we will be heading west to start our trip.

Thanks in advance.

@Bergmeister, go West.

Best conditions currently, and will likely pick up more of the snow that's due next week.

I would say Arlberg, but as you have the Snow Card, Ischgl is probably the best bet.

@Bergmeister, Take a peek around the Ötztal and Pitztal for the first few days, then move to wherever the snow reports look good. Schools go back around the 7th Jan and somehow I don't think the Russians are around in any great number for their Chrimble/New Year. Stubaital is reporting good conditions considering the dry period and not a great flood of people despite the gloom and doom being reported in the German/Austrian media

Stubai Glacier - had waist deep powder there while everywhere else was dry but regardless you are guaranteed good on-piste conditions.

I was booked for kasberg from 4 Jan for week but due to lack of snow I am going to schladming instead. I'm flying into Linz as that was nearest airport but 3-4 hour train journey now to schladming. There is a decent base there and more snow forecast for this weekend so hoping it's worth the journey.
