Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
After booking flights a while ago and having hung on to watch the snow, we've just booked a fantastic bargain chalet (£249 instead of £549) in Meribel Les Allues from next Sunday - can't wait Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy .

Anybody been to any nice restaurants (and bars) there?

Cheers.

think we went to l'Arbé ?
was pretty good
probably best to book a table since it'll probably be every chalet night off, and there can't be that many restaurants there

Tsaretta is pretty good, changed hands this winter the bar is a lot better now. There is also a random little place called en-k which does non savoyard type food like kebabs its fairly cheap in comparison to most other restaurants and surprisingly good. There is some good savoyard places up in Meribel if you like that sort of thing, la galette springs to mind.

Made the mistake of ordering tartiflette there a couple of seasons ago, and got given something that had come out of the freezer and been microwaved...ugh. Still the pizzas are good and at only 11 steps from the door of our chalet, you didn't even need to take of the slippers to go out. 7 eur for a pint in 2014/15 was a little disappointing for a bar 'down the hill' by comparison the ski lodge in la Tania is 4 in happy hour thus season

Thanks all Smile - so can you get up to Meribel from Les Allues on an evening Puzzled. Had assumed, perhaps wrongly, that we wouldn't be able to.

When you decide, book the table as soon as you can on arrival. As has been said above, every other chalet will be out looking for tables as well

Taxi buses back during the day was 28 euro one way a couple of years ago. So if there's a few of you it's probably only 10 eur each for the round trip, or one beer plus a coffee on the mountain

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Or you could just use the free ski bus Very Happy

They run every half hour or so from Les Allues up to Meribel and back until gone midnight, details via the excellent latania.co.uk

How about http://www.restaurant-martagon.com/fr/restaurant.html good place for racclette, fondue and other Savoyarde dishes. Been there three or four times and always a different night out. Tsuvretta is nice bar and the Pizzas are v. good but not a huge fan of the upstairs restaurant. Could try En'k ... Though to be fair I found it to be a bit strange!

L'arbé is good value for money. The Restaurant Croix Jean Claude in the centre of Les Allues is very good but quite expensive. Haven't eaten in the Tsaretta since it changed hands but heard some good reports from local residents.
