Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Mountain rescue and general insurance when working in Austria

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
My son is heading back to Kitzbuhel to work as a ski instructor and I was wondering about insurance and mountain rescue that he needs. He'll be out there for at least 3 months poss 4 and the small print on the Austrian Mountain rescue site says it doesn't cover if working, at least that's how I read it. Any ideas? Thanks

Which qualification does he hold?

I am Austrian qualified and we pay an annual membership and subsidy that covers mountain rescue and liability (for both working and free time).

Another good option is to take out membership with the local mountain rescue (doesn't have to be local but...)

This includes an insurance policy but you may need to check that it covers you whilst working.

Health insurance will be covered by the school.
He should receive an 'E Card'.

This will cover all costs from the Doctor's (as long as you do not use a private one). You tend to have to only pay for what goes 'in' you or sometimes 'on' you.

Hospital costs are about €15 a night but would be covered with any of the insurances above (most probably!)
With the E-card you are allowed to use private services but only a certain percentage will be covered by the e-card's insurance.

I hope this helps a little bit!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

This thread could do with being put somewhere a bit more populated (and a bit more relevant)...
Any mods out there?
