Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Destination for 3 week trip? (Austria)

Looking at the possibility of a three week trip in March, but as I am being made redundant from work it needs to be not too expensive. We will drive in our very economical little green van, so could split the trip over a couple of resorts, but would like to save money by having it all on one lift pass. Have looked at Ski Amade - but the passes seem to jump from 18 day at 478 euro to a season pass at 554 euro. Any suggestions of good destinations where we could rent economical apartments and have lots of skiing available would be appreciated. We are both competent skiers, can ski anything on piste, a bit of off piste, and even a bit of touring would be good.

Your looking in the right area as inexpensive accomodation can be found in the smaller towns/villages around the amade area with plenty of different areas to ski ,I would look at maybe 2/3 different types of accom but would try to ensure that I was in saalbach for the high point of the trip no reason not to move every 4/5 days and then you could use the big area passes of both the amade and kitzbuhel you could save more on accomodation than you will on lift passes its not far to drive from one to another main area either before or after the ski day its what weve done this last few years and has worked well

I think for most ski areas the cost difference between 14+ days of skiing and a season pass is negligible. You'll find exactly what you want and more in Ski Amadé, or for a bit extra there's the Salzburg Super Pass.

try to find an accomodation in Radstadt...or somewhere around.
But better the Superskipass...you could visit also Kitzsteinhorn in case of no-snow (like now), there is also Kitzbühel and whole skiamade.
and there is alos Zillertal Arena included which is a really good ski resort, and some others
