Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Chalet Le Sommet IN VT

Looking to book somewhere in VT for the Christmas week (20th to 27th December ). Found some good deals for Chalet Le Sommet - and some mixed reviews.

Anyone on here know it first hand? My primary concerns are about access to and from the post. Some comments are that it is only ski in/outable if you are REALLY good off pisters (we're not!), and the photos showing the slope down to the bridge seemed pretty damned steep, and likely to be treacherous if icy.

I've never been to that chalet but even Ski Total don't claim it's ski in/out now. 500m walk down to the piste, and they don't mention how you get back. Ski bus.... stops not far away...

Have stayed there when it was still a Skiworld chalet. You can just about ski back to it but you need good snow and it's not easy by any means. Also, probably the worst location in the whole resort for nightlife etc as it's a long uphill walk from the town.

Can't comment on the food and service as it was with a different tour op when I stayed there.

the next week or so could see a big change in the "snow certainty" picture for many resorts in France and Austria. The cold temperatures will possibly be helping more than the somewhat modest snowfalls so far, with a chance to get snow cannons working during a cold week.
