Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hello! Well, 8 weeks today we should be arriving in the snow!!! I'm very excited and trying to make sure I have everything sorted out before the madness of Christmas starts.

I was just wondering what you would advise about booking our lift passes? Is there and advantage to booking them now? Or would it make more sense to wait until we arrive? That way if there is no snow and we need to drive somewhere else we wouldn't end up paying twice?

What do you think? My preference would be to get it all booked and paid for now so that its out of the way - but not if that's a crazy idea!

Save the huge queues at the lift ticket office and if you book a grand massif ticket you get money off in various ways

If the snow is that bad at new year it will be the same everywhere, you will need to drive quite a way to get higher, there is alo a snow guarantee built into the pass

@breeze11, we are going to in feb half term to Combloux, their general (non-season) online booking starts 2nd of nov and from what I can tell by their website you get a 15% discount if booked before end of November, so will be buying our family pass Monday after work we are also benefiting from a decent exchange rate this week so worth it just for that alone.

just for your info, there is a decent prepaid exchange rate card called "weswap", it is a peer-to-peer card so beneficial rates, If you want I will send you details of it!!!

We're off to the Grand Massif for christmas/new year as others have said saves on the queuing, there was a 5% discount on lift passes if bought 60 days in advance.

Oh thank you all! Once again you have pointed me in the right direction.

They have 10% off a family ticket for the whole GM area which brings it out at just 30euro (for all 4 of us) more than the smaller Massif area that we were going to get! I'm not sure we'll make it over as far as flaine with our little people but at least there's another option.
