Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Saalbach - how to find a small apartment in the center

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi there, does anyone have tips on how to find a small apartment in Saalbach? I've tried the official website (saalbach.com) but for the week I'm interested in, it doesn't offer many options (and definitely not in the center). Wireless connection mandatory Smile

If anyone could refer some other source (apart from Tatman Tours... too expensive for my budget, sorry!) I'd be grateful.

Ciao

Try posting a request on chaletsdirect.com , you can use it for any accomodation not just Chalets. I found a cheap studio apartment using it a few weeks ago.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Not sure how many apartments (definitley cheap ones - can only think of some really cheap/dirty/small ones usually used by seasonairres) are in the centre of Saalbach (assuming you mean the main strip). However there are plenty of bnb/pensions/guesthouses along the valley road (towards Hinterglemm), many of which are only a 5/10 minute walk from Saalbach village centre.

Emailing the tourist office is the best bet.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

nobrainbcn,

I presume you've googled.

I know the guy who runs this site (http://www.zellamsee-kaprun.co.at/index-en.html), he's a good local operator - I use him to rent out my place in Zell. I can't see anything that 100% meets your criteria - you may have to compromise.

Hope this helps.

@shovels27, You're over 3 years too late - he was looking in Feb 2012.

For anyone else who is looking, the best places to search for private rentals are the Tourist Office website (Saalbach.com) or HomeAway.co.uk , or simply Google 'saalbach ski apartment' and see what comes up. Almost all apartments are within 10 minutes walk of the village centre, either on the Billa side of the village or the Hinterglemm side. There are free busses if you don't like walking, and the ski rental shops offer overnight depots or lockers so you don't need to drag your gear around if you don't want to. If you are in doubt about a particular location, post on SHs and the locals will put you right.

There have been some new apartment developments in the centre of the village - older hotels that have been gutted and refurbished as very smart apartments. Residence Krystall is directly by the Schattberg lift. Residence Saalbach is next to the Turm 6 lift. Both are managed by a Dutch operator, Sunweb, who have a UK website (ski.sunweb.co.uk) and are ABTA bonded.
