After my interview with Lè Ski I unfortunately didn't get offered the job....
Does anyone know of any maintenance positions that available for this season?
I have 13 years of electrical and general maintenance experience behind me...

@dheason, I shall take a look at your site
That's the reason given to me, a returning member of staff has confirmed that they're going to be coming back.

Happens quite a lot, generally people say they're not coming back then have a change of heart after not having to deal with guests for a few months!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@UnumPila, a lot of small companies will fill their positions by word of mouth without advertising directly. I'd internet search for independent companies with a few chalets and contact them directly with cv and cover letter. I did this when I was looking for work and had a very positive response, despite many of the companies not even mentioning on their own websites that they were looking for staff. I shortlisted 10 companies to apply to and got some sort of positive response from 8 of them (interview/phone call/offer). That was for chalet hosting, not maintenance, so I'd expect it to be a bit harder for you as there are less positions, but I think the principle will still work. Also try the jobs board in the solutions room on chalets direct.

@UnumPila,
We're putting a job up today with Ice and Fire for Maintenance/Driver, as it's not live yet I've copied the JD below, if you're interested their site is http://www.ice-fire.co.uk/about-us/ski-season-work-with-us and all the application details are there.
Maintenance/Driver
The position of maintenance person is a very flexible one with a wide variety of challenges, you will need to be highly adaptable, able to use your initiative and turn your hand to many different things.
You will be responsible for looking after the general maintenance of the chalets, fixing problems as they arise and driving guests when required.
You will also be helping in the chalets and with the general day to day logistics.
We are looking for a highly motivated can do "jack of all trades" for one of the most challenging and rewarding roles available. As a small company we are heavily reliant on a flexible approach and an easy going nature as well as being able to work under pressure.
The successful applicant will have a proven background in general maintenance, plumbing, basic electrical and painting decorating. You will also need a clean license and be at least 21 for driving.

What's the deal with just heading out to the resorts to find work?
Are the forums for room sharing etc??

Lots of folks do just head out. There's forums and websites dedicated to finding people to share with and you get the advantage of choosing your resort and accommodation in advance.
If you're confident enough to go it alone then it could be great. I'd suggest that you use the relevant Facebook Forum to find people who really know the resort and they'll generally say who is recruiting, where the best place to live are (and avoid!) and who is looking for a room mate. They'll also put up the odd cash in hand job over the winter (or you can make yourself known when you get settled) which will help.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@tangowaggon, I did my first season after splitting up from the missus, I funded most of it from re-mortgaging the house! You could look at doing a shorter season, head out January/February as cover... save up in the meantime!
