Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Its got adjustable temp setting and comes with a couple of different shaped ends

I think you may have to consider what height any of these gas tools will actually work at in resort does anyone have experience at 1200-1500m ?

And that they are both powered buy butane gas, both get hot and melt stuff, but the base doc appears to have a different venturi, burner unit & tip designed to run from 160-180C specifically for repairing ski & snowboard bases.
So apart from that they seem quite similar. But as I now realise they run too hot to melt ptex correctly

Visually I would agree they don't look the same but neither do a mini and a rolls Royce which are both cars.

So apologies for asking such a dumb question, I thought it was quite valid and it was what forums were for, but I promise to never do it again. That is unless it's about dildo's in which case I know where to come, as it appears you may be an expert on them.

Oooh! We are a little touchy. The grinning smilies should have been a hint that I was having a giggle but clearly they passed you by.

My point still stands, and as you've subsequently stated; it may be a gas powered tool but the design and intended use is totally different.
