Poster: A snowHead

Thank you for all your brilliant feedback on my earlier post.
I've narrowed it down (due to flights and accommodation) to Vallandry or MdC for w/c 26th March next year. Main criteria was some tree lined skiing. We loved MdC although always up for something new. I like the look of New Gen at Vallandry for lessons as I feel you just can't beat a native speaker!
I'm looking at the L' Oree des Cimes in Vallandry or a hotel in MdC. Both pretty comparable price wise- so much cheaper than February half term!
Thanks:-)

+1 for new gen definitely. And even if snow cover is poor, they move heaven and earth so that you can ski back to the bottom.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Used New Gen in Vallandry a few years back and they were fine, keep seeing them around at meeting point and is same crew so suspect still good.
Only one year we haven't had several runs open back to resort

We've been to vallandry or peisey 3 times in early April and it's always been excellent, almost certainly you will be able to ski back to the apartment you mention. New gen in vallandry have a good reputation and we have found the esf kids lessons to be good as well. Vallandry is probably more brit dominated than mdc that may be a factor either way!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

MdC is far more treelined than Vallandry judging from memory and Google Earth. My personal opinion is that it also has a great deal more charm.
I know that I am in danger of soundling like his personal PR agency, but I do suggest you contact SnowHead Campiglio if you are even thinking of MdC. His advice was brilliant and he managed to get us a better deal than we could match when trying to DIY the same trip.

You can't get much more tree lined than Vallandry. But I've never been to MdC so no idea what it's like there. Anyhow, @RosieL why is tree lined skiing so important w/c 26th March. I mean I can understand why it might be in Dec-Feb. But at that time of the year it's less important IMO. Also given that both Vallandry and MdC are probablt sufficiently tree lined, what is the next basis for your decision?

Hi,
Yes, MdC is lovely. We did actually use Enchanted Holidays aka Campiglio and I agree- he is great. I would whole heartedly recommend him, he was brilliantly helpful when my husband ended up in hospital with a broken tibula and fibula!
The tree lined thing is because I really don't enjoy the open mountain. I hate seeing how high up I am! Obergurgl was hellish but MdC was lovely and the trees are so pretty, Narniaesque!

Interesting. I've never come across that before. There is plenty of tree skiing on either side of the Vanoise Express though I would say you would be very restricted in relation to the vast Paradiski ski area if that is all you did. So on that basis I would probably head back to MdC.
