Sorry for posting another 'which resort?' thread... Anyway I've now done a staggering 4 weeks skiing which has been 90% suffering at the hands of a sadistic instructor and about 10% of my skiing has been about having fun just cruising alone. The benefit of the intensive instruction is that I'm happy cruising or carving on red routes and can side slip down many black runs. But I'm tired of all this intensive ski instruction nonsense and I think I deserve a holiday to recover. I'll be travelling alone and I'd like to go to a quiet resort with long easy runs. I don't want to be navigating a complex series of lifts to get around the resort and I'm not bothered about nightlife.
Can you throw some resort names into the pot? It'll give me something to do on a quiet Sunday nightshift and help to counter the post holiday blues.

Les Deux Alpes fits the bill... Or Les Arcs.... Or most resorts probably. Maybe quality rather than quantity is the way to go with further ski coaching? Some time to practice what you have learnt is essential in my opinion.... As is quality coaching

Villars Switzerland, as it fits the bill NOT Cervinia, Les Deux Alpes, Montgenevere, Zermatt, Alagna, Les Arcs (la Grave they were taking the wee wee), but Maybe La Thuile, dosen't fit your description but in terms of where your skiing is at it would work (not true at this stage on a snowboard)

I think Les Deux Alpes and Montgenevere would work. He does say he's comfortable on red runs, but both resorts also have a decent amount of gentler runs.
The main ski area of Montgenevre is compact, it's only if you go further afield to Claviere that you have to take several lifts, but that's to be expected. LDA is easy to navigate as well, it's all in a line!

Personally. Prefer ADH over LDA.
But then I went to LDA at the start if the season so my judgement might be soured

I thought he was referring to La Grave where all the pistes are blue, though I am told there are some other bits of skiing available if the blues are insufficient.

I reckon Bormio is about perfect. Massive vertical - very long runs and impossible to get lost. Throw in Italian prices, hospitality and sunshine and you can't go wrong.

So after 2 night shifts devoted to planning next season's jolly japes I've now booked two weeks leave in December which I'll use for more intensive lessons in Kranjska Gora (or in Ruka if Slovenia has another late start). I've booked 2 weeks in January in Lech which sort of meets my criteria and that just leaves my end of season fortnight in March /April to sort out. Just need to pick up some freelance work in the summer to pay for it all!
