Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

pond skimming question

Has anyone ever entered a pond skimming event ?
I am very tempted to do one this weekend at TAOS closing day.
My main concern is how my boot liners will do after most likely taking a full immersion in icy water.
Wish i had some old boots i could use but what do you guys think ? will they ever really dry out and not smell bad forevermore ??

Did one a couple of weeks ago. I didn't get wet though!

Go fast, bend your knees and focus on the snow on the other side of the pond, you'll be across no problem.

Should you go in the drink, whip your liners out immediately and get them drying in the sun. They'll dry out eventually.

@MagSeven, all very well unless you need to ski back from Les Arcs 1600 to 1950...

My liners are fine now though!

@essex, enough with the negative vibes man, you'll be fine.

Just make sure you take your jacket and gloves off / have spares with you.

Unless you fall your boots won't get too wet. In any case they should be fine by next season:) Try not to lose too much speed and look across the pond.

@Arctic Roll - what a treat!

We remember that particular pond well!

The video clip shows the problem - go fast which means no turning..., bend your knees, keep the skis close together but as soon as you hit the water - which you need to do with both skis dead flat - lean back slightly and focus on the snow at the end. No leaning forward! The water grips as you hit it so be prepared.....
