I've got a pair of Volkl Carver Motions. They're absolutely superb.

Good news - I got the insurance cheque through the other day. Just about to head off down to my local ski shop to look into some replacements.

Better news - I picked up the replacement pair of skis yesterday! Volkl Supersport *****'s mmm.... now to find some snow and convert my new pair of virgins!

Alex did you bin the old ones or do you still have them ?

I've still got one (cracked on the top, but not actually broken). Left the other one in Snow Togs, Southampton - where I got my new pair. They were interested to see the internal composition. I donated the bindings to Snow Togs in case they need them for another customer, as they've sold many of the Volkl skis that use the Marker 1200 bindings.

I'm after a ski or two to do some photos showing how to do some ski maintenance and that sort of thing, but really I need a ski with the bindings still in place, my skis are out in Switzerland or I'd use them

I loved my Carver Motions - they were my prized possession, but they had a bit of a chequered (?sp) history:
- Bought Feb 2002
- Skis go missing whilst in La Plagne (made it into the wrong ski locker in the ski room of our chalet building.
- Skis found later that day (as I'd been in the ski room from 3pm watching when people got back from their days' skiing). Apparently, I was very calm about it.
- Skis get broken by me in Canada, whilst I was sitting down with them dug into the snow.
Hopefully my *****'s will have a better life. Although their first trip abroad will be with Ryanair (is that a good thing or a bad thing?). Can't wait to convert my new-found snow-virgin sisters (skis, if you were wondering)!

Well, Alex is away in Austria at this very moment, but rest assured we will all find out about his *****s on his return late on Monday evening.
Aside: There's something mildly amusing about calling them his *****s...
In the meantime, I can tell you that he's texted to say that he's having a very big dump and enjoying it very much.

Sorry, haven't stopped (until now) since getting home at about 00:15 on Tuesday morning - 12 hour days in the office, a day-business-trip to Munich, etc.
Moosepig is leading you astray - it was him who texted me (pissed from Brighton) asking about big dumps!
Indicentally, the *****s were *****ing brilliant (yes 5-star-ing brilliant, not anything else!  ) Snow conditions were great, and we did have 10-12cm of fresh snow on the Sunday. Met up with Alastair Pink on the Monday lunchtime.
