Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@GO1996, You have my sympathy, but do be careful. Ligament damage does not heal well at the best of times perhaps you should see a doctor?

As over the counter medications go I find Alka seltzer plus`s combination helps with my ligament issues. The combination of aspirin which is anti inflammatory and analgesic with paracetamol, (pain killing action works in a different way to aspirin) and booth are boosted by the caffeine. If you get prescription stuff, short of the really strong pain killers, I have still not found anything better! My specialist also told me to take a cetirizine antihistamine with a glass of wine to help me sleep through the pain.

Do also check your insurance as it may be invalidated if you have not told them about your injury?

Good look

@GO1996, have you tried your boots on? a ski boot is a fantastic brace for many types of foot injury, if you can get into the boot without too much pain then it will be supported while you ski and (in theory) you shouldn't do any damage whilst it is contained in the boot

probably best to speak with your doctor or a pharmacist regarding medication rather than listen to what worked for me type advice, and yes mention it to your insurance company (they may want an excess or not cover you for further damage to that area)

@CEM, the problem is bending my toes to get into the boot! And putting weight on my foot when turning! I am praying a weeks test will have me okay! @CaravanSkier, thanks for your suggestions I will be down the pharmacy later

@GO1996, try putting the liner on then putting the whole lot into the shell, might work, might not in terms of getting in... a week is a long time in terms of healing ice and strapping might help also

@GO1996, a couple of snowHeads recovering from foot injuries have bought one of these which makes it easier to get their boot on. http://www.slippinltd.com/ski-products.php

@GO1996, I had a really bad sprain four years ago - just fell on the pavement in Clapham wearing high heeled boots, I couldn't put any weight on it the next day, crutches etc, but we came away at the end of the week and once in my ski boot the foot was fine - tended to keep them on rather longer than usual, so good luck.

@GO1996,

Pain: at rest?, when you try move it? weightbearing? walking?

Is it the pain that stops you moving it or does it feel physically restricted?

Where is the pain: deep in the joint? under? side? on top? or all around the joint?

I completely agree that professional advice on medication is best sought! But the OP did ask!

@anarchicsaltire, no real pain at rest, hurts when I bend my toes or put weight on the ball of my foot, the pain it mainly around my big toe underneath and ontop

Check the injured joint isnt unstable. If you can get a boot on then you could discuss this with the doctor.
Big toes usually fracture rather than sprain the ligaments. You need an xray if you havent had one.
