Poster: A snowHead

My lad has the opportunity to go on a school trip to Sauze, but it is on 12th Decemember; is it a bit of a risky one this early ? Snow history seems varied at this time of year.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Sauze seems to me to be one of those places with a slightly chequered snow record. There are fery few places I would book with confidence for early Dec and Sauze isn't one of them. To me it would depend on what is importnat the school trip as pect or the skiing aspect, if the latter I personally would forego the opportunity but time away with your mates may overide that.

Sauze has a poor early season record and the 12th is VERY early. I wouldn't risk it.
I've been twice at Christmas and got lucky both times. Once was the best xmas snow I've had but the other had iffy snow low down and only 1/2 open above mid-station. On both occations there was little snow cover until a few days before.

I went there once many years ago, and there was one 100m stretch of snow! Having resigned ourselves to a walking holiday it snowed that night (and most nights after that that). Having said that Dec 12th would be much too problematic for me.

Thanks for advice; as I suspected. They have a Via Lattea pass, so the opportunity to go elsewhere, and the company say they have a snow guarantee to switch resorts, as happened this year.
