Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi, I started to venture off piste.
I feel like I (and the guys I ski with) must get the right education before I continue with off piste skiing.

I’m based in val thorens and am looking for a decent avalanche safety course, but all the courses I’ve found online seem to be either one day or even a half day. While the AIARE and AST 1 seem to be multi day, consequently I am wondering about the quality and comprehensiveness (is that even a real word) of those courses. If anyone have done a course in VT or Meribel and can suggest (or warn me to avoid) a provider aswell as comment on the completeness of the course as a basis for feeling somewhat comfortable going off piste with me and my friends being on decision making.
