Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

A few Westendorf questions...

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi guys we are off to Westendorf on Saturday. We are couple who like to ski blues. My plan is to buy a 6 day All Star pass, hubby says a 6 day Skiwelt is plenty.

Is it possible to get a bus from Westendorf to get the Hochbrixen Gondola.

My plan is to get Hochbrixen Gondola over to ski in the Scheffau area, this plan seems easy on the way over, however studying the piste map the return journey doesn't look so easy in terms of blue slopes. Was looking to take the 1c Zinsberg down to Brien, is there a blue run that will take us to the top of the 1c.

Also planning on skiing in Kirchberg/skirast as there seems to be some nice blues. If we ski to Kirchberg via Ki West is there a bus service back to Westendorf.

Sorry for all the questions, just spent the last hour studying the two piste maps.

Thank you.

Not been to Westendorf for a long time, but I understand there is now a gondola from Brixen to the top of Westendorf.

Here is a link for the bus timetable http://www.skiwelt.at/en/skiwelt-skibusfahrplaene.html

Alternatively you could take the Alpenrosebahn to the middle station and ski down the blue to the Choralmbahn which you take to the top then transfer to the SkiWelt Bahn gondola down to Brixen. Its a bit of a trek on lifts. Returning to Westendorf is a lot easier. Just take the SkiWelt Bahn gondola to the top then ski the wonderful cruising blue 111 etc

Ive been to the Ski Welt four or five times in recent years and the Tanzer abfahrt 1c has rarely been open it is currently closed. The low altitude of Brixen and more importantly the south facing nature of the slope means the piste get bare low down. You can check the slope status here. http://www.skiwelt.at/en/ski-slope-status-for-skiwelt.html
Don't let this put you off going over too Scheffau are even Ellmau which can be done on easy blues both ways. You will still have to go down the gondola to Brixen on your return. I'll post you the route later.

Hi 2Waterford,
Some opinions
6 day ski welt pass will be loads, Elmau Scheffau, Soll there is a lot. You can add a single day to go to Kitz for ~€20 at any ticket office, if you really need it.
kevinraine provided the link to the bus timetable Westendorf Brixen, takes about 10 minutes very manageable, ski schools use all the time to get to the rest of the skiwelt.
Wouldn't generally recommend skiing from Hox Brixen down late in the day, it is hit and miss, the conditions can be rough, get the gondola. (next year there will be a half way lift which will make a big difference)
And no I don't think there is a bus from Kiwest to Westendorf.
We have spent a bit of time there, so any more questions, are welcome.

Here is my suggestions to get from top of Brixen gondola to Brandstadle (Scheffau) then on to Hartkaiser (Ellmau) and back.
This is the best piste map http://www.skiwelt.at/media/panorama-2014-15-gb-2.jpg
Note that a piste number is in a circle and a lift number is in a square.
Piste numbers are the same as the lift that they end up at.
From top of Brixen gondola take :
lift 3, piste 5/6, lift 6, piste 65a and lift 65 to arrive at Brandstadle
Brandstadle to Hartkaiser
piste 99, piste 96b lift 96 to arrive hartkaiser

Return
Hartkaiser to Brixen gondola
piste 97b, lift 97, piste 99, lift 99, piste 66a (note lift 99 exits into the vast scheffau bowl and piste 66a is the small gap to the left of the bar and just before the double lift 67)

now this is the answer to your original question

just before lift 66 there is a small gap in the fence that takes you to lift 71 and Zinsberg. There is a short uphill section just before the lift. From Zinsberg take piste 2a all the way to the Brixen gondola

@2waterford, We will be a week after you. All that @kevinraine, has suggested is good, normally agree not to ski down at Brixen. Don't miss the Westendorf runs, 111 is one of the prettiest runs in the alps and there are quiet tree lined runs over towards KiWest. I recommend KiWest as a morning run, it is in the sun so gets cut up early. If you want to ski down at Westendorf don't take the main red from Talkaser, it gets very busy and lumpy late in the day, ski down the 111, go up the Choralmbahn to the mid station and there is a blue back to town which is usually much quieter.

We also like to ski Kitzbuhel side, there is a bus back from the main gondola in Kirchberg (Fleckalmbahn) to Westendorf so if you get the full pass you can ski across via the KiWest, ski the Kitz side (lots of cruisy runs) and bus back from there. Try the 16/26 blue top to bottom.

The valley train is also free in ski gear so you can ski down to Ktzbuhel village and bus or train back.

westendorf is a great ski area on its own and is usually very quiet. Was there second week of february for second time and don't think you will need any more than the ski welt pass. Loads of area to ski. I will also agree with the run down to brixen. we skiied it three times and it was okay but when temps went up it was starting to look a little brown.
