Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Transfer time from GVA to Belle Plagne on a Sunday?

Last year when we went to Val d’Isere we flew in to Chambery. Despite some snow after BSM the transfer took less than 2 hours. My son passed the journey with time on his DS and a bit of snoozing. Unfortunately, Esprit have dropped the Edinburgh-Chambery flight so we are doing EDI-GVA instead. Esprit claim that the journey is 2.75 hours from GVA to Belle Plagne. However, a few parents I was speaking to at our local dry slope rubbished that and said we should expect a journey closer to 4 hours. Ultimately the journey will be what it will be but if it is that length I’d like to be prepared. The plus point is that we will be travelling on a Sunday therefore the roads are likely to be quieter than on a Saturday.

Anyone any views on what the actual journey time is likely to be?

Gaza, in a car with no stops it's about 2 hours 45 mins. So 4 hours + by TO coach sounds realistic. BUT as you say on Sunday the route should be better so maybe a bit quicker. However, BP is at the top of La Plagne so you may stop at all the lower villages to drop people off on the way up to BP.

BTW, less than 2 hours from Chambery to Val d'Isere is very quick indeed.

 Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@Boredsurfing - Thanks for that.

I was beginning to doubt my memory but I’ve had a look at some selfies we took. Thnaks to geolocation I can see that at 11:25 we were just outside Chambery and at 12:51 we were roughly halfway between the St Foy and the Tignes turn-offs, so 2 hours is about right. Very Happy Very Happy

Esprit only have 1 property in La Plagne so we should go straight there rather than do a tour of the villages. If it is closer to 4 hours then I’ll make sure I’m loaded up with snacks and drinks. Hopefully there will be somewhere at GVA to buy a sandwich.

Gaza, Crumbs I didn't realise Espirit were only in BP these days! So 2 hours ish from Geneva and around 45 mins 'up' the windy road should see you there, if they are using the same coach you had last year Toofy Grin

PS. If you want some in depth (almost geeky) info about La Plagne have a look at www.perso-laplagne.fr some of it is in English for bits that aren't Google translate helps...

They have other places in that ski area but the size of their BP place they fill the transfer bus just with that hotel.
