Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi
I have on-going lower back problems ( wear and tear) which impact on my ability to get fit pre skiing. However ive jsut had a fab week skiing and suffered no back pain or stiffness!Very Happy One day back in the office at my desk and I'm suffering again. With this in mind im wondering if the expensive ski edge equipment may be an answer to keeping my back supple and pain free.I have a concept rowing machine but Rowing is very dodgy for backs. Any suggestions?? many thanks Fiona

@fionashield, have you been to a physio?

@fionashield, maybe you need some ergonomic advice about your office desk (e.g. needing a foot rest, if you have fairly short legs).

I'd go and see a good physio and get some exercises for your lower back and do them all the time. I have a series I do before getting out of bed in the morning but with backs, it's best to get specific skilled advice rather than look on the internet.

I'm sure you could do the job without an expensive skiers edge machine - though it might be fun to have one.

Or maybe you just need another ski holiday!

Thanks and yes I see chiropractors, have exercises etc and have my desk sorted as far as possible- it was really a query about this Ski Edge equipment that may just be good for my back as well as skiing! Lots of the comments about Ski Edge suggest that a rowing machine is a good alternative but it definitely isn't for me. And yes- a think I need to ski all season!! Very Happy Very Happy

@fionashield, ok, I thought you were asking for suggestions for exercise. Perhaps if you change your thread title to something like "Is the skiers edge good for keeping the back supple" it might attract people who have experience of it

Not sure the skiers edge is your answer.

Increase cardio vascular fitness
Plenty of strengthening and toning of trunk muscles.
Have a look at you workstation
Chiro may help you get out of trouble when it flares but the don't all offer a preventative program of ongoing strength work hence I'm with the others on suggesting physio ( who specialises in backs)
