Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi. Just tried a pair of the above one day last week in powdery conditions and really liked them and am seriously thinking of buying some.

They were great on piste (powerful but easy to turn) and pretty acceptable down the sides and in cut up powder. Didn't try them in any untracked powder and suspect they might not be so great in proper deep snow but I am looking at them as a carving, fast turning piste ski but with which you can still have a mess around on the sides and near off piste.

However when it got all properly bumped up in the afternoon I started to find it hard work to turn them quickly and was having to pick the inside ski up to force the rear end round and my technique was all over the place. I was on 177cm which is what Salomon recommend for my height and ability but was wondering maybe if I should get the 170's which is what I'm more used to skiing.

Has anyone tried them? Is there much difference in the power & stability between the 177 & 170?
