Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hirafu Accommodation options - any ideas??

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi All,

Thought I might try on the forum to see if I have any luck with accom options in Niseko

I'm thinking of a last minute(ish) trip to Nesiko, it was going to be this week but I couldn't find ANY reasonable priced place to stay - I emailed all of the Lodges/Hostels I could find but the whole of Hirafu was booked solid. My next window of opportunity is around Feb 17 on wards. In case I missed anywhere does anyone know of any accom options that don't cost the earth?? Lodge/hostel type accom is preferable as I am on my own so it would be good to meet others to ski with.

Cheers
Brent

I had a similar problem so decided to look away from Hirafu and ended up booking at Moiwa instead http://www.moiwalodge.com
If required I'll be able to tell you what it's like this time next week snowHead

From reports on the Hokkaido thread sounds like powder stress in Hirafu is very bad at the mo, so having Moiwa as basecamp might be better for fresh tracks (I hope...), but with still easy access to the Niseko United resorts.
The obvious downside (or upside depending on your perspective) is not being in the thick of the Aussie fuelled nightlife.

@hd, I was in Hirafu last year and liked the fact that it had lots of restaurants etc to choose from. There is not a lot around moiwa so you are pretty limited on where you can go and eat. Looks like they have redone the entire lodge though. Could be an option if all else fails. One of the downsides is that the last bus back to Moiwa from hirafu is at something like 8pm, which is fairly early.

Enjoy your trip!

Yes as I said it's a compromise between nightlife and limiting powder stress. We will be eating in the lodge every evening and making our own entertainment, but enjoying competition free first tracks every morning. At least that's the plan.

The lodge underwent a complete renovation over the summer.
