Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

As most years, I headed out with Sparrow to see our mate Monster in Austria.

Arrived Thursday lunchtime and headed to the vast expanse that is Eben for a little afternoon slide.

Then walked up to the Alm above Filzmoos for some supper. Live music was the order of the day

Up bright and early on Friday to tour up to Sudwienerhutte, on the way to Obertauern. Pete and Steve looking thrilled at the prospect of a few hours climbing!

Started to get very windy so we only climbed another 30 - 40 minutes before Steve got to spend some time fiddling with the splitboard reconstruction!

A few screenshots from the ride down - some fresh snow to be had but a poor start to the season meant lots of obstacles and visible tree stumps etc. I doubt I'll lose a day of my life to editing the footage!

Had a hoon around Flachau on the Saturday with Scarpa but no photographic evidence, so on to Sunday when we headed over to Muhlbach where we found maybe 10cm of fresh snow to play in.

Pete was having some teething issues with his new Inspector Gadget bindings

A great trip as usual, and my first visit to Muhlbach. I will be back - loads and loads to go at simply by diving into the trees and a quick scan around and about revealed quite a lot of established touring routes as well.

Don't tell too many people or it will start getting as quickly tracked out as Zauchensee ...!!!
