Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

The cheap flights with Easyjet look very tempting and the train links look ok too.
Can somebody recommend a resort?

,
For well known Alpine resorts you will be looking at Engelberg, Andermatt and Junfrau which should be achieveable via train in 3 hours or so. There may be a few more that locals know and they may be along to tell you about them but I assume you will be without a car so that might rule a few out.
But beware Basel and the SSB train station are about 20mins apart. The bus will take you there for 2.50chf and a taxi nearer 40..!!
But I don't know about cheap resortwise..!!!
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I like Engelberg and will probably be there over New Year, but I wouldn't call it "well pisted".

Define within reach! Basel to Zurich is about an hour on the train and from Zurich all sorts of places are accessible e.g. Flims/Laax
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

, I've been using Basel for the last few years - usually heading to the Jungfrau Region. As
JT
mentions, you need to get a bus from the airport to the station, but these run every 10 mins and go door to door.
