Poster: A snowHead

Hi
Can anyone recommend convenient places to stay in Ischgl. I've heard some accommodation is a bit of a trudge from lifts etc Theer are 6 of us going in Mid March. Recent opinions of the resort more than welcome.

Google maps shows you where the 3 lifts are - the bus drops off at the Silvretta, so more likely to be queue there. There is also the Dorftunnel which is a travellator which goes from Fimbabahn lift to the town centre (comes out by Zangerl sports ski hire) and also has a midway access point. There are plenty of options within a few minutes walk of all these access points.
However, you may be more restricted by which hotel has accommodation for 6 people - Ischgl is very popular and hotels get booked up, especially at the cheaper end (Ischgl is very much your oyster if you can afford to pay ££££). I'm sure someone asked this question recently - I'll have a look.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The Ischgl site (www.ischgl.com) is very useful for this - http://www.ischgl.com/en/relax/accommodation/online_booking/map?towns[]=402&randSeed=NaN
First off you want Ischgl not Kappl/Galtur/Mathon which a lot of TOs pull a Ryanair and call 'Ischgl'.
Next the map shows you the 3 lifts up to Idalp and the runs back, so...
The link is an "all accomodations" view, you can go back to the list and filter to narrow results by category.
Unless you're way out on the edges of town the lifts aren't generally too far a walk, and there's always the option of use one of the 'ski lockers' up the mountain and taking the gondola rather than skiing home.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Kiwi bar does apartments above it. We stayed there and they were nice. They also have a B&B just down the slope.

We stayed in the Gidis Hof B&B last year. It was pretty reasonably priced compared to others. It wasn't fancy, but the breakfast was fine, the rooms were extremely clean, the staff friendly and the location second to none. You walk out of the boot room up a few steps and you are in the doorway of the Silvrettabahn. Spot on in my book.
In terms of skiing back to it, you ski down to where the Trofana Alm is and then walk across the street for 2 mins. Easy peasy.

Ah, the Trofana Alm. Always seem to make the lists of 'world's best apres ski bars' but more or less BOTTOM of our 'Ischgl's best apres ski bars' list!
