Afternoon
I need help on where to go with a mixed ability group, we have a few first timers, main bulk of the group Intermediates and a few advanced guys.
Looking for suggestions on places that are good for beginners (Good ski schools and a good amount gentle runs to progress onto) as well as having enough skiing to keep the rest of the group entertained for a week
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Cheers
Chris

Other criteria - a lot of resorts provide a good range of skiing for all. Budget? Country? What kind of accommodation? Busy noisy apres ski? Quiet sophisticated apres ski? How are you travelling? DIY or TO?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks for the quick replies.
Budget is around £750 - £850 pp inc flights, accommodation, ski hire, lift pass etc
Dates are Flexible - Anytime in January or March
Ideally Catered half board or chalet board
We dont mind where we go and would lean towards the quieter Apres
Thanks
Chris

@cbrooks Your budget is fairly tight, especially if your beginners want a "good" ski school with small groups.
Small group lessons with one of the British ski schools, a lift pass and equipment hire could well cost over £400. Going for a local ski school would save a fair bit but they could find themselves in a big group.
How big a group? If not too big you might get some good last minute offers for January (especially to the many resorts with rubbish snow cover ). If going to France, avoid the first week of March if possible, still French holidays. Mid March should be ideal and maybe there'll have been some snow by then.

Ok sorry that budget was without the cost of lessons for the beginners.

@cbrooks, still tight though, with a ski pass and equipment hire likely to cost around £250 - more in some places.
Ski Olympic have some good January reductions on their website - for example https://www.skiolympic.com/special-offers reducing costs to £600 -800 for a week. I've not been with them for years, but they usually get a very good write up here. Their places in Courchevel 1650 would be good for a mixed ability group and with the lower prices, around £600, would just about come in your budget. And with chalet tea to look forward to you'd not need to spend much on lunches out, either.
Some excellent ski school choices.
Some good offers from Ski Olympic for mid March, too.

If you're a group of youngish adults (20s & 30s) you should consider UCPA. This is a French organisation that provides all inclusive holidays with top quality tuition in great locations. See - http://www.action-outdoors.co.uk/activities/winter/skiing
Otherwise sign up with Igluski & wait for last minute late season deals as somebody else suggested

I'd also recommend their place in vallandry (les arcs) for that group. Big beginners area up the hill plus a fantastic 'improvers area' plus can download if don't want to walk out. For the better skiers there is the whole of les arcs to play with, with pretty close to skiin/out access to their hotel. Also not hard (one lift/run) to get to the vanoise express if you want to explore la plague.
Whilst there is a good bar on the doorstep, that's pretty much it in terms of après however.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@cbrooks,
Montgenevre is pretty well set up for beginners and early intermediates and prices are generally reasonable for those on a tightish budget. Large area for the rest of the group though most of the challenges are off piste rather than on.
This season I would check out snow conditions before booking, they are generally very reliable here though the Italian side of the area sometimes suffers from poor snow.

@cbrooks, try contacting our own flangesax as they run a small chalet operation in the lovely town of Radstadt about 45 minutes south of Salzburg. Cheap flight into Salzburg and a transfer mini-bus or hire car depending on how many you have.
It's lovely area with great skiing for all abilities and superb progression. Ben is an instructor with the local ski school and their prices are great.

+1 for Montgenevre, great area for mixed ability groups and much cheaper than 'big' French resorts, the beginner areas are dead easy , lots of first progression greens back to centre, and loads of scope around milky way for more advanced skiers.
Town is a bit basic but at your budget sounds perfect.

hi Madesimo or chiesa Valmalenco in Italy might just fit your group criteria - the latter with deals including half-board - ski pass and ski rental.
