Poster: A snowHead
|
Hello,
We're going to val d'isere next season.
I'm looking for any recommendations for a sympathetic and patient private instructor for my wife. She has the basic skills down pat, but suffers from nerves. She really wants someone who can help her conquer the nerves, build her confidence and enable her to enjoy the experience with the family (we have two children who are learning too)
Anyone know someone good who might fit the bill in val d'isere?
Thanks all.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Another vote for Steve at TDC here. He did a short confidence building session with a friend of ours who's nerves has taken a real knock when she'd had a tumble and scared herself a few years previously.

TOP TIP for nervous intermediates at Val.
Do not attempt to ski down to Val from the Solaise plateau at the end of the day. It is almost always got some boilerplate ice stretches. Down load on the Solaise Express.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Is the choice of resort at all flexible? There are better places for nervous skiers, in my view. There are certainly good gentle slopes but the "view from base" is fairly intimidating with those steep sides, as is the high terrain without trees. And yes, most definitely don't try to ski down.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.
