just get your own gear, and never have to wait again for a 16 year old to "service" your skis.

As @Lilledonmarco, has said buy the gear and learn how to service your own skis. In the long run will work out a lot cheaper and a lot more satisfying.
Plus no panic as to getting skis serviced proir to hols.

It's the pre half term rush at the moment so I'm currently on a 7-10 day lead time as well at the moment. It always amazes me the number of people who can manage to book a trip 6-12 months in advance but then leave it to the last minute to sort their kit out.

@spyderjon, We just got back from Val d'Isere and are off to Canada in two weeks - so it was always going to be a bit last minute. Val d'Isere before the big snow was a bit challenging for the skis - lots of hard pack and rough bits sticking out, edges are completely gone after a week. I suppose we could always get them serviced in Banff..........Any recommendations from anyone?

Always do my own nowadays, I get a much better job, and seems to last longer on the snow too...

@lynnecha, it sounds as though you take skiing seriously, so for the cost of getting 2 sets of skis done, you can get a very decent start to a home tuning kit...and then never have to worry about getting a store to fit you in.

Get it done overnight in resort
Edit. I've never had mine done in the UK since spyderjon serviced mine but he's a bit too far from me generally . Our local place is rubbish.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

And anyone buying the kit should go visit @spyderjon and learn to do servicing properly
