Snow Reports

Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

In the light of several countries pulling bids for the 2022 Winter Olympics, or not submitting them in the first place ... IOC president Thomas Bach has raised the possibility that countries could co-host the Games.

The IOC will vote on the proposals at a meeting in Monaco on 8 and 9 December.

They really don't want a controversial games, which either Azerbijan or China would be.
Isn't the main reason that no one is bidding for this that the Qatar world cup will fall really close to it if it's moved to the winter?

the reason is they are too expensive. When the people get consulted they say NO. In the past politicians have got away with spunking the tax payers cash on junkets like this but in recession hit Europe it is harder to do.
The IoC proposal is going in the wrong direction. The people who run the IoC need to move with the times. They should go back to less expensive games hosted at a single location, not spread over a region. For example Val d'Isere could host a games, some of the fringe events might need to go. Either that or host them in dictatorships where the people have no input. North Korean games anyone?
