Considering getting one of these which gives 10% off ski ware but also seems to provide ski insurance, including off piste, for the year starting at 25€. Haven't had a chance to look into it in detail yet but seems too good to be true.
Anyone any experience of it?

My husband and I take this insurance every year and have done for the past 17 years for both climbing and skiing. Never had any reason to use it and long may that continue. We use it on the recommendation of a french climbing/skiing friend who also has never had reason to use it.
We also have cover through our house insurance for skiing so that covers the cancellation of holidays etc, however the real reason in taking it was for climbing as obviously Direct Line wont cover you for that and other specialist insurance is so expensive. The ski cover that it has really is just a little bonus and in the event of an accident its probably easier to get taken off the hill if you flash your Vieux Campeur card.
I too would be interested to hear if anyone has had reason to use and how the experience went.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I don't think that my French is up to enough detail to consider this!
Also, when we buy insurance from UK we have to be UK resident - but if you are already resident in France that should not be a problem.

I dont think there is any problem with us being UK resident, they still seem to issue us with our insurance reminder every year and renew our membership, surely they would not do this if in actual fact we were not covered.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

As far as I am aware you are covered with the Vieux Campeur, principally affects repatriation. If you get the Vie Privee option it covers you for off snow injuries too. You can find good and bad comments on the French forums about the insurance.

As confirmed by Vieux Campeur a few moments ago. We are covered by their policy even though we are from the UK and resident here. Here is the response from them today on my query just checking. Hope this helps those that may be considering this insurance.
hello,
We acknowledge receipt of your email.
In response to this, we will confirm that you can subscribe to our contract.
Hoping to give you complete satisfaction.
kind regards
Alexandra

If I read it right does it cover you for all skiing below 4000m without additional premium with up to 4.6 m Euro of injury cover? The 80,000 is that for 3rd party liability or incidental costs?
And you can extend it for annual general medical cover for 28 Euro supplement?
Seems remarkably uncomplex compared to UK policies particularly re days skiing

Quick update. We were buying two avi transponder packages so it was actually cheaper to get the card and qualify for the extra discount than not. When I have a spare half hour I'll sit down down and compare it to the t&cs we have on the assurance we get when we buy our liftpass.
