Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Rumours of the 2 Black pistes on the Glacier being re-instated for the 2013/2014 season.
Now confirmed as true, so once again this winter you will be able to ski from 3500m to 1800m on Black pistes.
That'll make the bellecote lift queues even longer wink

Did them once, best morning skiing. 2 runs with vertical ,mile long mogul fields Skullie True black runs. Horrible entry in as well. 1st time we went in my ski came off at the entry point, try getting your ski back on at that point at 11,000 feet! Still 2 great runs that should be open.

I am surprised anything stops the French building? We were in the Loire in the summer and they are building the Tours to Bordeaux high speed line extension and are bulldozing anything en route. Finished in 2017 and Bordeaux to Paris, 2 hours 10 minutes. by then we might have started our pubic inquiries in HS2. rolling eyes

Snow and Sunshine, I was hoping for some good weather this week but it has been miserable and wet since we arrived on Sunday. It looks like it is clearing up this afternoon and we can see some snow on the peaks across to Courchevel.
I understand it is due to rain again tomorrow and then clear up when we leave on Thursday.
I prefer it sunny in September, much better to have the miserable weather in November.

A second toboggan run
Longer and easier to get to than the Colorado Park toboggan run in Plagne Centre, this new run on the Arpette is lit and only open in the evening. It goes from the top of the Arpette chairlift and finishes 2.9 kilometres further down above Plagne-Bellecôte, with 500 metres vertical drop!
Hourly price and unlimited formulas. Minimum height 1m40.

Just had a quick look on the SAP site and it looks like discounted season passes are now available to buy for next season.
They also seem to be offering 10% off the Paradiski discovery and unlimited passes, at least for the 6 day passes.

Also had an email through from APLP about Edenski, it looks like you can earn points to go towards a discount on your lift pass if you buy your, or other peoples ski pass using an Edenski code. I think if you spend something like 14000 euros with them you will receive a free season pass. I understand you have to have a taxe habitation or fonciere bill to register.
Need to look at that in more detail but could be interesting if you have a very large family or lots of friends and guests.

I'll add details to last years post about season lift pass prices when I have worked out how much they will cost and if there is any benefit signing up with edenski.

It looks like you have to register with Edenski to be able to purchase the discounted season pass for next season, it seems a very easy process with an English language option. Discounted lift passes are available until the end of November 2011.

For property owners in La Plagne it is possible to become a 'Premium Edenskier' which offers you the opportunity to earn points towards your own lift pass purchase.

Once registered, you can print out or email vouchers to your guests or friends staying in your property, they will be offered a gift if they show this voucher when buying a full price lift pass. Points cannot be acrued on discounted lift passes and there is no mention yet of what gift will be available to the person purchasing the full price lift pass.
Each euro spent earns 0.025 Eden points, a season lift pass is 350 Eden points, a 2 hour sledge run is 8 Eden points.

More details here - http://www.edenski.com/#

Am I correct that there's no "earlybird" discount for the La Plagne only 6 day pass. That's what it looked like on the LP OS but my French isn't good enough to be certain.

Yes, you are correct. It is only showing a discount on the paradiski discovery and unlimited passes. It is being offered to celebrate 10 years of paradiski so is fair enough.

A decent covering of snow in La Plagne today as this view from the Bergerie webcam shows.
From what I can see from the other operational webcams it is down to around 1800 metres.

http://laplagne.livecam360.net/bergerie?t=2013-11-05+14-10-00

The forecast is for another 15cms tonight and heavy snow (40 cms) forecast for the weekend. Let's hope for a cold November.

ukredsox, Sadly they won't be operational until the power is turned on for the lift, hopefully they may come on when the frost protection circuits are needed.
But at least the Bergerie cam appears to have its own power supply this year snowHead

I was sure that at least the GR webcam was available year round in the past

The RdM webcam shows a view from around the last day of the 2012/13 season but the GR cam seemed to just stop working in the summer.

The Bergerie webcam is great for me. That's the area that I'm around the most (on a clear day, you can make out the chalet I stay at).

Snown down into Champagny at 1250 metres and a decent covering for the cross country skiers at Champagny le Haut at 1470 metres. The snow plough has stopped clearing the road at the entrance to the cross country area which is a good sign that winter is on it's way.

Only 33 days to go before it starts to open and another 20cms is forecast for next Friday. Very Happy
