Having just returned from a good 4 day trip in La Tania with iGoSki I'm now planning the next break for us (three 40 something young at heart blokes).
Must haves...
Decent ski area i.e. so we wouldn't end up covering too much of the same ground twice over a 6 day period
No more than around 2 hours transfer
Decent food
A few bars for some cheesy afterski
Would like....
Ski in-out
Triple room
Prefer larger chalet or smaller hotel
Reasonably priced beers in the chalet (we're not big wine drinkers)
Flexible meal times (not essential if fixed to 8pm or so)
Flights and transfers included in package
Can't have....
Lots of families in the chalets
Long transfers
Long hike to / from slopes
Prefer not to have....
Paradiski as have been too many times
Rowdy resort
Your suggestions please!

St. Anton or Igls would probably tick quite a few of those boxes. Mayrhofen too but the Penken lift up to the slopes can be a pain at times. The big resorts in France likely aren't going to do much for you with "reasonably priced beers".

Kitzbuhel, choose your hotel and you wont be too far from the Hahnenkahm Gondola, a quick up lift. Plenty of good bars to choose from, not to expensive.
A "bit" of a down side for your criteria, would be that to get into and out of the ski area it is the same runs on a daily basis (if you use the Hahnenkahm Gondola) there are other up/down lift options but will mean a bus ride to and from.

To be honest, we don't drink enough that expensive beers will make a significant dent in the budget.

Ive booked with Crystal to Kitzbuhel staying at the (dare I say it as its a great/popular place) The Edelwiess Hotel. Also stayed at The Tyrolerhof but its out of the town and another Hotel near the town centre (cant remember the name Maria Alm???)

Obertauern, but not so many small hotels (can't think of any package chalets) and the ski area might be a bit small for you.

Thats it, I was and so where my friends, thoroughly unimpressed with it, poor food and poor out dated (70's porn style) rooms. Though I saw last year its had a refurb.
Ski.Boot lockers at the gondiola are a god send if you dont want to carry your skis, and a lot better since the refurb.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but would a larger chalet (e.g. one that sleeps 20) have a bar where you could get a beer? Or would you be allowed to put some of your own in a fridge?

I will admit that my knowledge of ski areas is not as great as others. However, I have visited Morzine twice and it looks like it ticks all the boxes for you.

Wide range of accom, ski in/out and some in town - chalets, apartments, hotels
As you suggest get your own beer. I am a family man, but one of the first jobs when we get to chalet is to pick up 2-3 cases of beer and put them on the balcony.
Cant you DIY the trip?? If you travel outside of school times and French holidays you can get flights cheap and accommodation is cheap. Search the forum, there are loads of examples of this being done. Like this-

We've just done a long weekend at Sauze D'Oulx staying at the Albergo Les Amis at Jouvenceaux. ignore what Trip Advisor says and just roll with it. It's basic but v cheap, ask for a room with a bathroom attached there are loads. B'fast plentiful, drinks when you want them, 6 Nations on in the bar.
The owners sister owns an epic pizzeria ten mins walk away, his brother the hotel right by the Jouvenceaux lift where you can leave skis and boots. He's a local ski instructor and if you're up for it will show you round the mountains.
It's an easy 65 minute drive from Turin airport in a hired minibus. Flights from STD were £100, Mini bus £250 between 9, hotels worked out at £35 per person per night B and B.
PLUs - you have the whole of the Via Lattea to go at. We're going back next year!!!

The requirement for ski in/out rules out a lot of the traditional "lads" haunts such as Chamonix, St Anton, Verbier (all of which do have some accommodation near the slopes but it is all pretty expensive).
Saalbach/Hinterglemm has a less full on apres scene (which it sounds like you're not really after so avoid the Mooserwirt in StA) but has a few nice bars and the Goatstall bar for those days when you want to have a bit more life on the slope.

Or go for Hinterglemm which is probably quieter, but with cheesy Europop options if you want it. As mentioned, the Goaßstall is a good early apres option if you want it. Some good accommodation options close enough to the pistes.

Just come back from a Stg do in St Anton, amazing place. Went with Mark Warner to Chalet Hotel Rosanna which is in an excellent position, litrally crawling distance from bars and slopes.
St Anton has the Mooservert and Krazy Kangaruh for the best Apres in the Alps, bars and clubs in town also rocking, great atmosphere and partying until the early hours.
Flew to Fredriecshafen from Gawick with monarch, 1hr 30min transfer. Snow is good, skiing excellent. Has everything you want, no families.

PeteMan, I've done a few lads trips.. Morzine gets a healthy thumbs up on all of your town/ skiing and location criteria. Can't speak for triple rooms and chalets as we've always booked apartments.
Chamonix is great as well, but not ski to door (but everything else is cracking!)

Dont come to St Anton. To many large british gay groups
. Its very expensive here. Bars do not let in large groups of boys.
Ischgl groups of English boys will be inimidated by very large groups of Germans!

PeteMan, If St Anton sounded like it fitted the bill, then Saalbach/Hinterglemm would fit even better. Lower prices, plenty of accommodation right next to the slopes and bars, not too 'British' and 200km of good skiing. 90 minute transfer from Salzburg. Accommodation ideas: Hotel Konig and Pension Norika back on to the beginners slopes in the centre of the village and are reasonably priced. Berger Sport and Saalbacherhof more pricey but bang in the middle of the village - 5 minutes to any lift. Alpinresort (formerly the Reiterhof) next to the beginners slopes and all inclusive; pricey on the face of it, but fantastic food and all drinks included can make it an affordable option. As for cheesy après - Jeden Tag Hinterhag! If there is a cheesier après ski bar than the Hinterhag Alm anywhere in Europe, I've yet to hear of it, and I have been to Mooservirt, Crazy Daisy, the Ice Bar in Mayrhofen and many more of the usual candidates and nothing beats Josef and the crew murdering europop classics (if he can find his glasses to read the words) while the audience sings along and clomps around on the tables in ski boots

We've had quite a few lads trips though mostly longish weekends. Being a short break our biggest consideration is short-ish transfer times so in no particular order:
Flaine: +ve short transfer from Geneva, plenty of apartments, decent ski are, plenty of crazy dutch
-ve expensive beer, apartments can be rough, it's Flaine.
Morzine: +ve short transfer from Geneva, lots of chalets, not too pricey, extensive area, quite brit orientated
-ve some areas low-ish depending on time of year, quite brit orientated
Chamonix: +ve short transfer from Geneva, plenty of hotels and chalets, kinda cool place we only went because we knew the guys who ran the hotel from a previous trip
-ve pricey, very spread out and awkward if you haven't got or know of transport links
Saalbach: +ve decent transfer from Munich, short from Salzburg, cheap, big area, very euro apres, so for it's my ideal lads weekend, ski in-out
-ve a little on the low side if that worries you but the way it's shaped it's never all bad.
Soll: this years trip from Munich because of easy train connections. Been with the wife and enjoyed it but didn't get to sample the true nightlife, very brit orientated.

Kitzebuehl - stay at the Kaiserhof, its classy and central. Kitz has all you need - Kirchberg next to Kitz also has plenty of slope side bars and fun in town.

Someone mentioned Mark Warner and I quite like the idea of a Chalet Hotel so am wondering if this would be a good choice....

Depends on the bar and the joy of Ischgl is if you don't like one bar there are 20 more to try.
The Torfana Alm seems to get mentioned a lot but to be honest we all though it was poo-poo. Rammed, hard to get to the bar and the only place we've ever found in Ischgl that felt a little intimidating and like a fight might break out. The Ice Bar (Hotel Elisabeth) gets busy and once you've seen one bored looking young lady dancing on the bar you realise it's just a saussage fest.
That's about as far as it goes for the bad sort of rowdy though. The rest is the happy sort that gets you singing and dancing along to song you never hear outside of ski resorts!
Other than that though there's cheesy bars for every age, from the Kushtall (where you feel too old in your 20s) to Niko's Hexenküche (where you feel too young in your 40s). Then there's bars for a quiet beer and a chat (Golden Eagle or Kiwi Bar) through to a bottle of fine wine (Trofana Hotel bar - well worth a visit). We tend to bar-crawl ever other night, taking up our usual residence in the Kitzloch the rest (is it a good or a bad sign when an apres ski bar saves you a table without you asking...?).
And those mentioned are only scratching the surface of available bars.

Hey, first post so hello to everyone.....
Just returned from a week in Solden staying in a catered chalet with skiworld. Transfer was an hour and a half from Innsbruck, lots of bars of varying styles and taste (the grizzly is nice and non smoking). Good slopes and for an extra 10 Euro on the lift pass you get a day in Obergurgl/Hochgurgl. Ski lockers so you don`t need to carry them in and out every day. Food waas ok in the chalet and it had an honesty bar. The main street running through the town is busy though.
Roll on the end of the month.......Schladming here I come

I stayed there in January on an early booking special . They were also offering 50 pounds extra off if you paid in full at the time of booking.
The location is excellent and is ski in ski out. The rooms and food were also of a pretty good standard. They have a bar in the hotel open every evening.
They do have child care so you may end up with families. The week I went they had a large group who were mostly over sixty. All a bit luck of the draw.

I've stayed there. It's a nice hotel and ski in/out as said.
However, I wouldn't recommend it for a 'lads' holiday, as it's very out of the way. There is hardly any nightlife in Mottaret, and to get to what there is you have to walk down (and back up!) about 300 steps!
Skiing is great. Apres, not so much.
Go for the Rosanna in St Anton for apres/nightlife or the Moris in Val.
