Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Valfrejus latest reviews

Anyone got an up to date review of what it's like ? There no mention of it here for a couple of years and the only recent review is on snow-forecast,com which is a very poor one indeed. Suggestions of the resort being run down, poor piste management etc.

Thinking of maybe spending a day there as in the area but not if it's rubbish.

Thanks in anticipation

I went 3 years ago and was not impressed, snow was not great and the grooming was pretty poor. The town center was like a ghost town, hardly anybody about. However i have heard that the off piste is not bad if you know where you are going.... we did not and as vis was bad decided to stick to the badly maintained pistes!

Just had 2 new lifts installed one bubble from bottom to mid and a fast chair from mid to top (with magnetic vests for the groms). Been there a few times in recent years and found that the pistes were pretty well maintained. Don't expect a mad party village but the pub near the bubble is OK, the nightclub down the road is worth a visit (if just for a laugh) and the restaurants are pretty good. Everything including the lift pass is cheap compared with mega resorts, coz it's not a mega resort Smile We're planning a trip there Feb half term, ticks a lot of boxes for us as a family.

For us as well ticks a lot of boxes -cheap lift pass (now Eski-mo lift pass which covers 5 resorts in Maurienne valley- Aussois,La Norma,Val Cenis and from last year Bonneval sur Arc-right at the high end of the valley) All this gives you bigger canvas and choices to shift from one side of the valley to the other.
valfrejus is by far the one with the best snow record -also the runs are different and the scenery is different (much more than La Norma for example.
You have and south facing runs and view across into Italy and runs of Bardoneccia .
Other big plus is that it is only 6 kms from Motorway.
Not very busy in fact you will know pretty much all of the people for that week of yours within 2 days.
BIG PLUS is the good off piste area all within easy reach.
5* is the ski road down to resort with huge areas and waves for jumps and basically getting mad in deep show.
Not very positive on the grooming side of the runs but recently things have improved. Brilliant restaurant on the top of mountain 2800m as well as in the middle plus rustic bar up the pass with the owner looking like one of the ZZ top.
For a week is great with free bus to other resorts on certain week days.
