Poster: A snowHead

Winter Olympic gold hoarders Norway have pulled their bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympics, worried by spiraling costs and a frankly bizarre list of riders required by the IOC honchos. A 7000 page document was found by the Norwegian press which contained requirements like "Free new Samsung phones for all IOC members", "A cocktail party hosted by the King of Norway before after the opening ceremony", "Changing traffic signals to favour IOC member vehicles" "Full bar for all IOC officials at the opening and closing ceremonies" and "All meeting rooms to be heated to exactly 20 degrees"... and it goes on and on.
The rising cost of hosting the games and falling support among Norwegians has led to the Prime Minister announcing that Oslo was removing itself from contention, leaving human rights paragons China and Kazakhstan left in the running.

Update from the BBC:
Quote: |
The IOC's uncharacteristically aggressive response to this snub is revealing, calling it a missed opportunity for Norwegians and claiming the country failed to send senior officials to important meetings [and claiming that] Politicians made a decision based on "half-truths and factual inaccuracies", according to a furious Christophe Dubi, Olympic Games executive director for the IOC. |

... I hear Alex Salmond may be available to lead the campaign - though good luck in trying to get the Queen to turn up to one of his cocktail parties.

I had to check that this was not April 1st when I read the post. But sadly I was wrong. Maybe Qatar can put in a bid....

Yes, Italy can pick where to hold it, current plan seems to be to run it at Santa Catarina.
