Poster: A snowHead

Hi all. This looks to be a nice ski to door resort and I wondered if anyone knew where the actual centre is on the map as it seems very spread out.
Any advice on where to stay would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

audi321, it is very spread out. Miranda might well respond to this - she knows that area well, though I suspect she'd feel there were better places to stay than La Clusaz. If not, you could send her a personal message.

Thanks all. I've found a lovely place in La Croix Fry, and wondered how far this was from everywhere and if there's much going on around it?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

We stayed there years ago in Hotel Alpen Roc which was fairly near the centre of the resort. I have noticed there is some new accommodation there like the Grandes Alpes apartments which might be worth looking into. My memory of the resort was that there were three sectors that were not that well linked. You'd also need to take the bus to Le Grand Bornand to make full use of the Aravis pass (or just buy the La Clusaz local pass). We liked La Clusaz village and the ski area was pretty particularly Beuregard/Manigod.
Whilst you can ski to the door to some accommodation it is not what I'd call a ski to the door resort. However hopefully someone will come along with more recent experience of this resort.

Hello, yes, La Croix Fry is pretty and is in the Manigod area. It is connected to La Clusaz via skiing but you would have to drive to La Clusaz at night if you were looking at going out there. There are a few hotels/restaurants in Croix Fry and Manigod is a small village in its own right but the vast majority of bars/retaurants are in La Clusaz village itself. If you look at the map, La Clusaz village centre is at the bottom of the piste map, in the middle.

Thanks Miranda. How far would you say it is into La Clusaz from La Croix Fry?

Thanks again Miranda. Would you say there's enough to do in La Croix Fry on an evening or is the journey into La Clusaz a must?

audi321, well, I don't know what sort of thing you're looking for. La Croix Fry probably has 2 or 3 restaurants with a little bar in, whereas La Clusaz village has lots of restaurants, a few bars/pubs and two nightclubs (not that I've ever been in the clubs myself).
