Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi everybody,
Just floundering around trying to get some kind of organisation on my winter plans. Thought I would dig around on here and see if anyone has any experience with winters in Austria. Always wanted to get out there but struggling to find much information online in regards to anything really. I have very few european contacts thanks to the last 3 years in North America so was hoping someone on here might be able to get me a bit more focused.
Main motivations are ski touring and splitboarding but also keen to continue my progression of ice, mixed and alpine climbing in the winter months. Anyone got any advice for recommended locations, potential contacts, resources for finding climbing and skiing partners or just advice when moving over to the Austrian side or the alps?
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot. Seb

I've spent the last two winters in the Amade region, there are 44 resorts to ski on the pass, great touring and an hours drive round the corner is one of Austrias best ice climbing valleys. I'm looking to get back into ice climbing and will be out there Jan to March, see if we can hook up. I knowbone guy who is a climbing guide, I'll see if I can find his web site.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the information. Some of those websites are incredibly helpful to get a real feel for an area and a gauge of what is on offer. Looks like its going to be a lot of online research in between intensive german lessons and I will be out there. Can't find many job opportunities online so heading out November for the foreseeable future. be grea to link up with anyone in the area.
