Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Heel pieces for Salomon boots

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Greetings Snowheads!
I wonder if I could pick your combined brains?

I have a great pair of trusty Salomon Integral Equipe 8.1 boots but, unfortunately both heel pieces have given way last week in France.
I'm home now, but need to source two heel pieces. I've emailed Salomon, but I suspect with the age of the boots I'm on a hiding to nothing.

Would any of you have any ideas as to where I might try to get these important bits of kit?
Are there specialists who could help, is there a market in boot parts, or do I have to buy a pair of old boots to cannibalise?
Are the heel pieces identical, or do the come in different sizes to match particular boot shells? (Mine are size 350, L=333)

Grateful for any help you can provide.

CW Happy

LMGTFY - I've used these guys: Anything Technical; http://www.skiequipmentuk.co.uk/shop/ski-boots/ski-boot-spares/

heel pieces can vary from being generic across ranges, to specific boot to boot. for example, on my fischer's, the heel pieces are handed (left/right) - the toe pieces are not.

Hamilton's tip sounds like an answer.

But just in case that doesn't work - its worth checking out the rental counters of every in-resort ski shop you can find. I realise its a bit risky/stupid to head out on holiday without fully funtioning kit but again, just in case you have no choice....

The big chain shops and rentals (both here and in-resort) seem to throw all their bits and pieces out after a couple of season which is understandable but the smaller in-resort Mom & Pop places have all sorts of gems down the back of the sofa in the back room. I found replacements for my old Salomon heels in a shop in Canazei in the Dolomites (which, helpfully, I cannot remember the name of now!!! Could show you where it is though.). After about 15 minutes from me asking, the bloke re-surfaced spouting torrents of delighted Italian with a big grin on his face...and holding said items - 8 or so euros the pair. I could've kissed him.

cardweg, i can't remember where i found it but a quick google for Salomon_Shop_Practices_and_Spare_Parts.pdf might be useful, i picked the part numbers and sent them to the local Salomon retailer who were happy to order stuff in for me, even though they didn't stock Ski stuff.

I probably have a set of my old Equipe 9.1's in the loft somewhere; if you cannot get them; give me a shout and I'll have a look, I'd guess with 8.1 and 9.1 had the same shell????; yours for a suitable contribution to the RNLI.
