Poster: A snowHead
|
We are driving down to the French Alps on Friday 13th February ( half term ) and on the Friday night usually stay in a nice 2 star hotel in Les Allevards , about 15 minutes of the motorway just after Chambery , but I have just been told that hotel has been sold .
Does anyone have any recommendations , all we want is a cosy comfortable old style french logis hotel for about 8 x families that has an on site restaurant that is only a bit off the beaten track . I don't want any formica sideboards that you get at an IBIS or a Camponile that is full of fellow tourists , we want the kind of place where all the conversation stops when Le Rosbif opens the door , and none of can translate what the local dishes are on the menu du jour for €15 .
Any suggestions between Chambery and Albertville .

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

This one looks like a possibility, but haven't stayed there.

You'll be lucky. That'll be one of the busiest nights for the merest fleapit within close range of the ski resorts. Booking for that number, and all wanting to stay together, I'd suggest you grab the first place that has enough rooms and, as for the formica, tant pis.

all sorted , booking for 11 rooms , 9 families in the end , new owner keen to keep some good long term customers so gave us even better prices than last year , he was right to do so because 18 x adults on the first night of their holiday tend to make a hefty bar bill . cant wait it is a cracking 2 star authentic french place just 15 mins off the motorway after Chambery and only about 1 hrs drive from resorts for saturday morning .

Hells Bells , the hotel is called Les Terasses de Allevard , the new owner is still struggling with getting his technology up and running , he did not respond to e-mail or the reservation system , so i ended up calling him on the number that is on the web site . Apparently he is extending the hotel . Allevard is about 15 mins off motorway and there is a SuperU that is always empty with petrol just up the road making it a lot easier than going into the centre Commercial in Chambery

I can recommend the Hotel Costaroche at Albertville. It's a small 2**, family run hotel. It's "hidden" away below the Conflans area.
