Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Minibus hire?

We're thinking of taking 7 to Val Thorens at Easter next year (me, SWMBO, 4 boys plus a generous auntie who wants to do some child care for us!), and we won't all fit into the normal family mobile.

Anyone any tips for hiring a decent value vehicle as one option for getting us all there? Alternative would be for main family to drive in the normal family wagon, and pay for generous auntie to fly / snowtrain there, but want to have a decent price to compare to.

Best I've found so far was about £500 for the week's hire, but that was limited to 500 miles which wouldn't really get us to the slopes...

Even £500 would get generous auntie there and back in good style, I'd say. And if I were generous auntie I'd opt for that rather than drive all the way in a minibus, thanks. wink They are rarely super-comfortable and you might also pay a penalty on fuel.

Hell yes! Snow train seems the cheapest Easter route there which is currently bookable (£299, plus about £20 for transfer up to VT), I'd expect an EasyJet flight to be about £200 each way at that time of year.

I just want to rule in or out various options. She is a complete non-French speaker, so there are some advantages to her travelling with us which might outweigh other factors.

I would suggest you either all travel on the direct daytime Eurostar or you book your aunty on that and take the rest of the family in the car. All the staff on the direct Eurostar speak good English so it would not matter that your Aunty doesn't speak French. If you timed your arrival for midday you would have time to go and pick your Aunty up from Moutiers or if not you could book a private transfer.
