Poster: A snowHead

Good afternoon one and all.
I had excellent advice from members of this forum for a family ski trip to Austria this past Easter holidays. Many thanks once again.
After weighing up all the pros & cons we chose Hotel Lasinga, Fiss in the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis ski circuit.
Brilliant time for me, my partner Nerys, my brother Matt, sister-in-law Laura, and my 7 year old nephew Sam.

So successful that my brother & sister-in-law want me to organise the 2017 Easter trip
Their criteria:
Italy
Similar ambiance and feel as Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis
Ski-in, ski-out (can be swayed to very short walk to lifts if there are lockers)
My criteria:
Children terrain park and themed runs like Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis would be excellent
Good off-piste
Reliable snow record
They've been to Champoluc and Cervinia so those are out.
I've skied Civetta, San Martino Di Castrozza, Corvara, Marmolada, Trafoi, Pejo 3000 & Solda so know the merits, pros & cons of those areas.
Resorts on my radar are:
Madonna di Campiglio
Marilleva (Val di Sole area)
Madesimo
All recommendations gratefully received.
Many thanks in advance.
Mike

Definitely consider Courmayeur. Amazing off-piste including Vallee Blanche etc. Some people complain the pistes are a bit limited but you get a free day in La Thuile/La Rosiere on your pass. We went there on a snowheads recommendation after several years at Ski Monterosa (Gressoney) & had a great time.

Madonna and Marilleva are essentially part of the same area. Madonna is very upmarket and Marilleva is a bit more school trip.
Pila is interesting. Slightly French -lots of runs in the same area.
You are going slightly late so I'd recommend north facing and a bit of altitude so Pila fits the bill.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Alberto Soldanella in Madesimo is excellent vfm. The skiing is a bit limited and the cable car to the top is small. Otherwise recommended for a relaxing holiday. The road up is interesting too.

Many thanks.
Was looking at Madesimo for good late season snow coverage and for the fact that they host a freeride festival. I presumed that to do this the terrain was varied and good.
Is that not the case?

It was a few years ago, but as I remember most of the skiing is red and blue runs below 2100m in the trees. Above is one steep mountain served by a small cable car with an itinerary on the front and some easy open runs on the back. You could easily ski the whole area in a day. In the right conditions I'm sure the top could be pretty exciting. The place had a nice relaxed atmosphere, but we moved on after 2 days because the snow was better in Switzerland. Hth

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.
