Really - it is exciting for me. I just have no idea how to get an image into this forum. Any ideas? I checked the how to post an image . . . looks like a very dated set of instructions.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Nope - still doesn't work - used the IMG tag. Is this really the best that can be done. We're in 2014 for goodness sake!

Ooh, that is indeed rather jolly. (If you remove the img bits, people can just click on the link.)

You need to download your pic on to the snowMedia zone (click on the snowBase tab at the top of the page) & then you can link your pic to your post or, if you contribute to the snowHead coffers you'll get the added facility to put pics directly in to your post.

What I would like to know is if anyone has any pics of these from when they were in use (from the 1970s, I believe). Ideally inside or outside pics. I would very much appreciate anything you have in your archives of holiday snaps!

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

johnnyh, cool. The OH has been wanting one for a while.
How are you getting it back to the UK?

They started out in the 70's but plenty still going strong. Picture from April of the "White Eggs" in Les Deux Alpes. The "Red Eggs" closed a couple of years ago and were similarly sold off, fetching a fair amount of money. Sad to see some of them rotting around town now in front of bars, etc.

You know it makes sense.

It's back in the UK - that's a pic of it in my front garden. A very nice lady from Essex brought a load back and I bought this one. She's now sold them all. I had to trailer it back from Essex to Cornwall - it was a fun road trip. Plan is to do it up and use it in an art project, after that it will become part of the garden furniture. It took me a long time to source and I got lucky that it had been brought in from France. I wouldn't have wanted to go and negotiate for one on my own. And trailering it back from Essex was tough enough for me!

BTW for those that are interested those are my first ever skis - 190cm Rossignols bought from the Ski show in the 80s.

Talking of old Flaine skilifts, are the yoghurt pots still in use?

Yep, the yoghurts are still there (or at least they were at Christmas). Can't see them going for a while as it's a key lift for skiers and pedestrians from Forum up to Foret.
