So why not go to a specialist boot fitter and get a boot that fits right ?
I don't see the point in having one of the stiffest race boots then cutting soo much away.
From the first pic it looks as though his foot is way to wide for the Raptor straight out of the box ( maybe a boot fitter could have widened it enough ) I have a 92mm foot and the Raptor 150 is snug on my foot, What width is his foot ? around 98mm maybe ? ( going off raptor if memory serves being a 95mm) going from the picture there are other race boots with a wider fit, that may have been a better option.

Because he is bonkers He had an appointment with the best boot fitter in Europe but couldn't wait and didn't care ..

If the boot functions for racing with unlimited quantities of air round the forefoot the tight fit alternative is surely a waste of time?

If he is not racing in the boots then the cutout taped up is not as big an issueas it looks, that is as long as the tape stays put. If it comes loose or comes off then he will have a completely different feel and it is then will he have time to correct for that. if he can't he will be over and if the bindings are cranked too high because there is now a slight torsional flex on his boot sole under high load the skis may not release and the potential for serious leg injury.

I hope you and others can convince him to go see that boot fitter before he potentially looses a season from injury.

I see his problem. He suffers from a rare condition podiatrists call 'toes'. The normal human foot is actually pointed as can be seen from the careful design of the ski boot shell and liner. Anyone with such a mutation should not attempt to put their foot inside a ski boot without having them removed.

I wouldn't worry too much. Once the cold gets to them I'd imagine they'll fall off by themselves.
