Poster: A snowHead

Hi, solo skier with awkward flight times from Southampton to Chambery!! Tried Altibus, Snowbus, SNCF all of which are a pain. So anyone fancy a car share from Chambery airport to Les Coches, or anywhere en route/nearby? Flight arrives at 1115 on 15th. Need to be back at Chambery by 1600 latest for return on 22nd. Alternatively, anyone know of sensible way of doing this without waiting for hours at airport. Cheers, Steve.

stanner1969, welcome to Snowheads
Have you tried www.findtransfers.com ? The transfer companies post what availability they have and you can also post your requirements and suppliers will contact you if they can help. As a single traveller you'd be unlucky not to find something with a space to offer, in a non-peak week. Good luck

Thanks that looks like a nice option - didn't come up in google searches with various search terms, but will definitely bookmark it. I've just joined and logged my trip so will see what response I get. Also found blablacar.com since post, which looks great! Cheers for the help.

I'm gonna be in chambery too around that time but i'm going to tignes. I will be alone too and I have to buy loads of things in chambery. i.e clothes! I didn't really prepare for this trip.
From what i gathered the journey to most resortts go through moutier. Is it a bad idea to use public transport?

I know you said you've tried SNCF but it's quite an easy (and cheap) journey and a quick look at the times seem like they would work for your trip. You do have to get a taxi from Chambery Airport to town for the train (cost €20) but you would probably be able to share this with another passenger if you ask around at the taxi point. It's only a few minutes journey. From Landry to Les Coches is only 10 minutes by car - you could see if your chalet will pick you up (if you are staying in a chalet) but also hitching on that road is really common and I think you would be fine getting a lift at those times.

Hi guys, thanks for the responses. Having discussed with my chalet owner I'm going to give the train a go, so will be taking a taxi to the station as you suggest. Will travel to Bourg St Maurice and get picked up there, so all fine. For info, my Findtransfers.com request resulted in one response which was a "we can't offer that trip", so not particularly useful.
