Hi, I am looking to buy my own airbag. I do understand that both ABS and Snowpulse systems have their own advantages, so it doesn't matter to me that much which one to choose, but an A-frame ski-carry could be a deal-breaker as I am not the biggest fan of diagonal attachment behind the back on steep bootpacks. My normal backpack has an A-frame and I rented Mammut few times which has a diagonal ski attachment and always felt as if my skis were pulling me back.

Really...? Can't really see any airbag manufacture ok'ing an A frame setup since they all deploy the airbag in the same place as the skis would be attached, it is quite simple to adapt the side compression straps to accommodate skis but that's another story.

Check the manufacturers instructions. My understanding of the ABS and Snowpulse systems is that they require skis to be carried diagonally, even though the bag might have A straps in addition. The reason being, the bags can be used without a canister and, in the case of interchangeable systems, without the bag i.e. as a regular pack.
