The bucket / pot things that go up from Peisey Nancroix to meet up with Vanoise Express - are they a pain??
Are they worth putting up with if - its a short walk to them or you can get a lift??
Any thoughts please!

They are a lift. The only lift.
You could walk up if you wanted - would be excellent early morning warm-up, but not sure you would do it twice.

Have a choice of several chalets - some in Peisey nancroix, which means taking pots and some in Les Coches and Monchavin, La Plagne
Planning to ski La Plagne and Les Arcs on alternate days so being close to Vanoise a benefit.
Just wondered which would be easier/better??

we stayed on Peisey Nancroix with our chalet we took the bus to the pots and then up,then a short walk to the lift up to the Vanoise express not a problem, there are some chalets within walking distance of the pots as well. To be honest its nice to go over to LaPlagne but its a bit of a hike we did one day, plenty to ski in Les Acrs

All require a lift to get to the Vanoise
All require a lift to get into the main resort.
Les Coches is one less lift than Montchavin to get into the La Plagne bowl
But Montchavin is more pleasant place to stay - a real village complete with mooing cows rather than new build apartment blocks.
Nancroix is of course quickest way into Les Arcs.
You are bound to prefer one side of Paradiski to the other - if Les Arcs then stay that side.

They are a short ride and take you to the bottom entrance to the Vanoise Express - from here there is a lift (as in elevator) to the Express itself if going over the valley or the Peisey lift into Arc, although you will need to take one or two lifts to get over to Arc 2000 area from here.
They are free and automated - but don't run late so don't count on being able to go out in evening to Peisey on them

Dippy, We've stayed in Peisey Nancroix on at least 4 occasions, the lobster pots have never put us off. It's very easy to get into the Les Arcs skiing, and as others have said, you are right by the Vanoise when you get out of them at the top. If the snow is good you can ski back down Nancroix, particularly if you are staying at the top end of the village. We have either walked to the lift, or the chalet operators have run lifts in a minbus.
The village is quiet, if you are after nightlife it isn't the place to be. If you have small kids who may not want to ski all day, it is a pain to go back to the chalet during the day and drop them off. Although that still didn't stop us going there with small kids! Accommodation tends to be cheaper than in Plan Peisey or Vallandry.

Personally I much prefer the Les Arcs skiing. La Plagne skiing is mostly easy: Les Arcs more various (particularly in the 2000 valley over the top). On the other hand there is perhaps more, easy off-piste in La Plagne. The best bad visibility skiing is glades through woods, right above where you will be staying.

Karin & all - thanks for helpfull replies - no kids - not that fussed about night life just want a good quality chalet - which - hopefully we have found down in Nancroix.
Looking forwad to skiing La Plagne one day Les Arcs the next - nice to have the choice!
