Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Jean-Claude Killy completes inspections of 2006 Winter Olympics facilities

Representing the International Olympic Committee, skiing legend Jean-Claude Killy has completed the final inspection of facilities for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.

After three days of meetings and site inspections, Killy said: “We were particularly pleased to see all the public authorities that will help Torino 2006 deliver the Games around the same table. Preparing for the Olympic Games is a team effort. It is important this team stays focused and stays together, taking its cue from strong leadership on the part of the Organising Committee.”

This report from Associated Press takes a rather more objective view of the situation in Turin.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

That sounds like a statement that you would want to read three years before the start of an Olympics rather than three months! That sounds to me like Killy was just being diplomatic about potential problems that remain to be addressed Sad

The second article from AP takes a harder line on problems. Including the difficulties of even getting to the events to spectate. It recommends taking the train as the only sensible option. For the summer Olympics bidding, the selection process seems to weigh heavily on the standard of transportation being offered to and from the event locations. Have they ignored that for this Winter event in Turin? Looks a bit like it if even the airport might not be ready in time.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

If the airport has insufficient capacity, that may physically prevent people accessing the region of Turin, which would help relieve the more local transport problems.

However, I guess that people who absolutely have to be at the Games will use any means available - road or train - so they would simply fly to the nearest or most practical airport, and use surface transport from there.
